GET INVOLVED -- Head a COMMITTEE!

Below is a list of ways to get involved in the planning of events and activities that the PTO manages throughout the school year.                                              COMMITTEE CHAIR POSITIONS

 

Book Bunch- Works with staff to coordinate parent volunteer-led reading groups of 3rd, 4th & 5th graders that meet at lunch once a month for three months (January-March) to discuss books.
Book Fair- Works with Librarian to secure volunteers and organize fall and spring Book Fairs.
Box Tops- Coordinates volunteers to collect, trim, sort, and/or count box tops labels; maintains school-approved collections sites, sends redeemable items and manages the acquisition of merchandise as determined by the program.
Carnival- Works with volunteers to coordinate the special school events, generally held in the spring.
Community Service Club- Work with the school in coordinating & organizing student/family involvement in the President’s School of Service challenge; provide organized service opportunities for students/families.
Daddy/Daughter Event- Coordinates the event for dads and their daughters.
Fit & Fun Day- Works with the PE teachers to secure volunteers and needed support for the annual Fit & Fun event held in the spring.
Free Little Library- overseas and maintains the free little library box on campus.
Fun Run- Coordinates with Fundraising Officer to organize and secure volunteers and donations for the annual fall fundraiser.
Fundraising Chair Assistant- Coordinates with Fundraising Officer to organize and secure fundraising opportunities throughout the year such as community family nights (ie: Papa Murphy’s, Old Shawnee, Johnny’s); assists the Fundraising Chair with other activities as needed.
Grandparents/Special Guest Day- Works with the school to provide volunteers and support for the September annual Grandparents/Special Guest Day Picnic.

Golf Classic- Secure the date and Golf Classic venue approximately a year in advance. Organize food, and prizes, promote, sell, and book groups to play in the event, and work with the golf course to ensure a smooth event.  

Landscaping- Ensures the beauty of the grounds of MPE by coordinating community work days, planting & up keeping flowers/plants in the front entry pots; provide recommendations for additional landscape needs.
Lost and Found- Coordinate volunteers to keep lost and found area organized and tidy; routinely goes through items and return items with names to classrooms; bundle and transport unclaimed items to charities twice per year (January and June).
Mother/Son Event- Works to coordinate activities for mothers with their sons.
Movie Night- Organize a family movie night event held at MPE.
New Parent Breakfast- Works with the Principal & PTO to coordinate and organize continental-style breakfast for new MPE families on the first day of school.
Room Coordinator- Contacts, organizes, and trains all MP room coordinators.  Shares Room Coordinator guidelines and provides support as needed in securing coordinators for each classroom, carnival volunteers, and activities for Teacher Appreciation Week.
Spirit Wear- Present recommendations for spirit wear designs to the Executive Board for approval, order spirit wear and coordinate sales, collect money, and provide customer service related to spirit wear.
Square 1 Art Fundraiser- Works with the art teacher to promote the program and to collect and fulfill orders.
Summer Movie Tickets- Works with summer movie ticket vendor to promote the program; collects and fulfills orders.
Teacher/Staff Appreciation- Works with teacher rep and Principal in determining appropriate times and ways to show student and parental appreciation of the MPE staff; Coordinates meals at parent-teacher conferences and Staff Appreciation week; maintains/updates Teacher/Staff “Favorite Things” spreadsheet.
Teacher Snowflake Shower (formerly known as Holiday Tree)- Obtains wish list from teachers in November, works with the committee to create snowflakes with teachers’ wishes to be placed on classroom doors.
Website Administrator- Assist in maintaining the PTO website, keeping information current, managing design, and handling technical issues that may arise.
